Job Title: Area Organizer

Position Objective:

To direct regional activities as part of PETA's diverse outreach programs

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Recruit and direct activists to help achieve the goals of PETA's outreach program
Represent PETA to the media and the general public
Maintain regular records and calendars of scheduled events
Generate a visible presence outside popular tourist attractions and at well-attended events
Research and develop opportunities to promote PETA's programs and presence
Keep informed about local and national news stories and develop plans based on them to increase media coverage of PETA campaigns
Organize and take part in media outreach, celebrity engagement, demonstrations, exhibits, street theater, food sales, giveaways, and other types of appearances at festivals and events
Maintain the inventory of PETA's "Animal Liberation" booklet and vegetarian/vegan starter kit distribution stands and maintain and stock selected stands
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:

Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of two years of activist experience
Prior experience in project development
Proven thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
Proven exceptional public-speaking skills
Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
Commitment to the objectives of the organization
